Ground Up Media Productions is more than just a company. It was first a dream that came to me while I was sick in bed dealing with Covid-19 on New Year’s Eve in 2021. So many things transpired during that year, which had me questioning whether or not digital media/entertainment was for me. I knew on that night that if I was able to recover from that virus, I would make the most of whatever opportunities God sends my way. But then a voice spoke to me and it said, “do not wait for an opportunity, CREATE your next opportunity. And so, Ground Up Media Productions was born.
Every single one of you that is reading this blog post has your own Ground Up story. One of my dearest friends and mentor to me, Antonio Godfrey, exemplifies what Ground Up Media is all about. He was a man who took a chance on himself and started a movement in the city of Atlanta, GA with the formation of True Urban Culture Magazine. I had the honor and the privilege to work alongside him in building TUC Magazine into what it is today before his life was tragically taken from us.
I am also proud to say that some familiar names from True Urban Culture have migrated over to help me build this company from as our name would suggest, the ground up.
So, what can you expect from GUM Productions and why should you support us? Well, for one, you can expect authenticity not just within blog posts such as this, but also in the art that we produce as well as the art that we will help you to produce for your own brand if you choose to do a consultation with us. As for why you should support us, there is absolutely nothing that I can say to convince you to do so, nor do I want to if I’m being completely honest with you. My only hope is that you see and appreciate our grind and if it leads to you doing business with us or collaborating with us, then great! After all, that is the goal, right? But if it inspires you to finally bet on yourself and take a chance on your future the same way my late mentor did 10 years ago and myself when I was sick in bed with COVID while the rest of the world was gearing up to party after coming out of a pandemic, then that is alright with me too. So whether it’s supporting us on our journey, being inspired to start your own, or doing both, just know that we are all capable of building the foundation of our own dreams from the ground up.
